TBH, in the beginning of my SMAP-ventures I had a really strong love-hate relationship with the guy. Which really didn't make any sense at the time since I had just finished watching Mr. Brain and being all 'so THIS is what the Kimura Takuya I've heard all about for nearly half my life is like' and was immediately interested a few weeks before. But I do know that it had a lot to do with how ridiculously good-looking he was and for some strange reason, it bothered me a lot, lol. Partly because I was very much sexually frustrated whenever he was on the screen and I usually didn't go for the inherently handsome ones and liked them awkward or rugged or just smth I could obviously point out as some sort of flaw. Seeing perfection or something close to it in a person isn't one of my strong suits. 8D;
So that went on for a few months, LOL.
I don't remember when exactly it was and I can't pinpoint the exact moment it happened, but gradually, I'd gotten a better sense of Kim and my unjustifiable hate was replaced with pure-pure adoration. I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT the gap between his sexy side and dorky side played The Hugest Role in showing me the light. In spite of how flippin' sexy he is and how he never seems to have an off switch for the thing, when he reverts into his more real self
Speaking of which, his laugh gets its own paragraph. It is BY A MILE one of the greatest things to have blessed our Earth and I can confidently say this as a person whose bias isn't even Kim. He's not even in my top 3, which says smth, but not actually because the space between my love for each member is barely there as it is, but treat it like its big all the same for this instance. |D He laughs like a 12 yo whose just caught his first fish
It's also very nice and makes him more attractive to me on a whole that he's far from perfect. I mean, sure, I joke around and call them flaw-free, but they're not even close
I could probably type another few hundred words going on about how Karei Naru is my favourite drama ever or how awesome I think it is that he's married with kids or the brotherly role he plays in SMAP that's sweet but I won't. This is too long as it is, ahaha, and nobody reads these and I need to practice self-restraint anyway. 8|b
tl;dr: Happy 39, you dork. You're not flawless but perfect the way you are all the same. Thanks for being the person you are and letting us in on some of that. Now go be 40 already so you can stun people some more. <33

I'm totally the same though, I love reading ppl's thoughts on the boys and I have loads myself so it's nice to use their birthdays as excuse to get some of those feelings off my chest~ Kim is just reallyreally awesome, and I'm a little worried that my entry may have come off as the exact opposite. ;AA;

That's so true! There's no one else I've really thought of as perfect except for this man during those first few months. I think it has smth to do with what he exudes and his never-gonna-lose and sexiness and charisma and ugggh. Which then, once you realize he isn't, it just kind of makes him more perfect? Date: 2011-11-14 04:18 am (UTC)I can relate to your story. Since my induction into the JE fandom in 2007, I have heard his name and seen his face a kabillion or two times. Maybe three years ago, I decided to watch Long Vacation, just to see what all the kids were fussing about. Though I agreed that he was absolutely gorgeous, I assumed, for reason, that his personality was just like his character's, which for me was not a positive thing. For three years or so, I carried this prejudice that he was aloof, reserved, and maybe a bit cold, and probably would not subject himself to anything that would make him look like an idiot. BOY was I wrong, and wonderfully so. In one of the very first SMAP videos I saw, in probably August of this year, he was open and friendly and laughing that laugh. I have since enjoyed seeing the range of his abilities/personality, including
especiallythose that don't contribute to his cool/sexy image. He's not my ichiban , I'm coming to love him all the same.SORRY, SOOPER TL;DR. Thank you again for the icons and the lolz.

Date: 2011-11-16 08:01 pm (UTC)I have yet to see LV i know, i know, tsktsk, but it just doesn't really lure me in especially when i still have other more recent things to catch up on and i'm very much biased to older!kimura for the most part, lol - the main reason i want to watch it though is to get all the references~, but that seemed to be the intro for a lot of people and most of them have stuck around so it can't be too bad of a thing. But that's interesting! I always wonder how that happens, y'know? How we sort of project their characters onto them and the way that sort of toys with our feelings. I'M SO HAPPY YOU GOT TO EXPERIENCE THE MORE REAL HIM ESPECIALLY THAT LAUGH. <33 I find they all manage to charm our butts off, even they're not our ichiban (LOL, oh Shingo, he was my initial bias for my first few months since yes, he's very much fuckable and adorable and just so funny and pahaha, sometimes he can say things that just make you drop your head in shame, so I totally understand!).

Date: 2011-11-14 05:45 am (UTC)When I first discovered Kimura, it was in PRIDE and he wasn't beautiful there ... but he had something about him ... charisma for sure, oozing sexiness despite that weirdo hair and his rabbit teeth but with spades of talent and I was flabberghasted My brain going: "ohhhh-kay, he isn't my usual long haired beautiful guy but what the heck - shouldn't tastes alter over age?!"
Colour me surprised when Kimura turned out to be just that ... mostly long-haired & beautiful and a November child like me to boot :)

the icons are gorgeous, particularly 3 & 8 [one of my favourite pictures], 5 is love, lol 11 &heart;, then 14-17, 23, 24, 26, 30 is one of the most beautiful moments ever, 31 does things to me that i shouldn't mention, i've made myself an icon of the pic that is 35 that was supposed to be my default icon because asdfghjk but then i forgot about it lol but mine was uglier, and 36 ohgod.

The Japanese they use in shops make me feel absolutely terrible about my Japanese abilities ;-; and lessons have been real draining so I haven't actually done all that much. But hey, I've been to Softbank and AU shops and totally swooned over the SMAP/Arashi posters! Plus bought two awesome magazines I haven't read. :X
That boy issue... is now a non-issue. I just decided to hang out with the guy who asked me out and we're sort of dating now I suppose. But he's also moving to Tokyo in December so I've sort of am resigned to the fact that it won't last beyond that time. Which really means I'm subjecting myself to potentially unnecessary heartbreak but whatever, we'll see how things go and not think too much. I'm in Japan! It's impulsive enough as it is, might as well live in the moment a bit more.

There were like SMAP and Arashi musical boxes, and I bought a Love So Sweet for my friend and I was choosing between all the SMAP ones when I saw La La La Love Song. The moment I played it, I knew that was the one for me. This is how much impact Kimura Takuya has on me, despite the fact he's not my bias >.
