We are SMAP aka SMAP is We aka I Made Icons

I'd had a handful of these done for a while, but a day or two ago I got a sudden whir  of inspiration (&desire!) to make icons and the more and more I made, the more I realized, These are all SMAP-centric, aren't they? so I decided then and there I'd just make an exclusively SMAP icon-batch because there's never enough SMAPPIE love <4
.

And yuh, photoshop has finally decided to let me make successful gifs so I played around and made just two (FOR NOW), I wanted to make more, trust me, but now that it finally works, I'm gonna' be going through my videos and whatnot, looking for more gif-able moments it seems, hahah. YOSH. /CAN'T WAIT

Hm. I think that's about it for now, mucho (and numerous) thanks for all the awesome comments I've been getting about these--it makes me so sad to see how small (in comparison to Uh-rash-ee, KAT-TUN & even NEWS) the SMAP fandom on lj is (which is why I think I've been so focussed on SMAP lately and making icons and writing fanfics--it's so tightknit and everyone who's been contributing to the SMAP fandom, honestly, you guys rock :DD).

P.S. Just credit me as so (credit user: [livejournal.com profile] dictionarysays  ) when taking these badboys, yanno, the usual, hahah.
P.S.S. I'm still too curious for my own good, so lemme' know which numbers you end up taking.
P.S.S.S. Not hot-linking would be awesome, please and thanks.
P.S.S.S.S. These badboys aren't bases, so, y'know, don't use 'em as such, hahah.
P.S.S.S.S.S. Like always, feedback is ridiculously appreciated. :)

*EDIT
Okay, so I only realized after this badboy was posted that the gifs were too big for lj-use (yeah, I know, I checked in the beginning of making 'em but apparently not after d'oh!). So I've cut 'em down and made 'em suitable for lj-use, just in case people ended up being interested (I know I'll be usin' 'em, sooo, it's handy). So yup, hahah, ignore that bonehead move of mine. /PEACE

Oooh, ooooh, my Goro-chan fangirl heart is doing twirlies!! ♥♥♥ I'm thinking it's better to tell you the ones I DON'T take, eh? ;-D
I think I'm just going to have to face up to the utter shame of being (1) A serious SMAP addict and (2) a serious fan of your icons. Please let me know if a 12-step group ever forms...

Ok, in the last set, took 52, 56-58, 62, 68, 69, 73 & 75. I *love* the Loser Reporter Bros, by the way so that is serious win in my book! All the Shingo and Goro are snatched...32, 36, 37 (I ♥ this one!), 39 & 40 in Nakai's set...2, 3, 5, 6 & & of Tsuyoppon's. I love the colours you zing with him, sooo pretty. Aaaaand, 21, 22 & 30 of Kimura-kun's.

Oooh, I hang my head in shame while I'm figuring out my rota for showing them the love. I just have to learn to do the linky thing for user names, I always give credit in the info space bit for the icons I use though.

{{massive hugs}} for such gorgeous work. I do agree that some of those other Johnny's Boys get a little more attention but you're single-handedly doing a huge part in assuring SMAP aren't left out. Thanks for being such a sweetie!

Okay, so first and foremost:
You're far too sweet..

Secondly: I do so solemnly swear to let none of your (hella awesome cool) words get to my head /HA.

(I don't feel like going all thirdly, fourthly, but you get the gist :DD)

So like, major FTWs to you for not only having a Goro-chan fangirl heart but for twirlies. Shingo-chan is my completely admitted bias but aside from that, I seriously don't (I JUST CAN'T) have favourites--it's so difficult, one second I'm swooning over the hair in Kim's face, the next, I'm trying to Google-map where the hell Nakai-kun lives because I want me so more of his laugh (&everythingelse).

These boys (I call 'em boys and yet they're 10+ years my senior HA) are ridiculous. THEY SHOULD NOT BE GETTING BETTER LOOKING AND CUTER AND JUST MORE AWESOME WITH AGE.

/BUT IN ACTUALITY, HAS NO PROBLEM WITH ANY OF THESE THINGS

Wow. The fact you actually listed the numbers you took totally made me smile (like, it's nice when people do but I don't necessarily expect it), but really. I'm grateful for it. :)

LOSER REPORTER BROS. /FTW I was looking through my screencaps (which I really have to start deleting again--I'm back in the 2000s /GUH) and saw all my screencaps I had of 'em and decided it was high-time they got some lovin' (I've never found icons of 'em so I figured I'd just make 'em myself ;D). They're adorkable, in a word.

OH! Here's how you link users: [livejournal.com profile] exampleusername It took me a while to figure it out too at first, at least in posts there's a button option but yeah, for comments and all, that's how you do it. :)

/RECEIVES HUG AND RETURNS IT MUCHO MUCH
It's funny too, since I totally started out on lj being all UH-RASH-EE (they're the first Johnny's I officially fell in love with, so I still love 'em, even now, just, lately, they've been taking a backseat to SMAP hahah), but at the same time, what rocks so much about the SMAP-fandom on lj is that it is so small and it's oh so very easy to get to know people and discuss Goro's blow-drying tendencies and just have a blast, y'know? And then all the love fans are giving (whether it be through icons, 'fics, translations, subs, scans, everything)--you get to appreciate it that much more. So I can't complain too much. /THUMBS UP

Ugh, I'm sorry, I rambled (nonsensically--is this even a real response?). Again, though, seriously, thanks so much! I don't deserve your nice words but I'll take them all the same if you don't mind. :D

http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=67 -- this'll give you the html code for linking users (should'a realized it would do that, D'OH, hahah).

Awww, I love when people actually *talk*, I always feel like I go on too much and am entirely too verbose for my own good. Brevity is my enemy sometimes...

Thank you for the help on linking users! Like any horrid Luddite, I thought (too late), "read the FAQ, fool, most of these places offer them for dorks like you."

Wow, in two paragraphs we've established that I can talk endlessly and suck at technology. I sound like my Grandma! Only fitting since I got into SMAP because they were the first talented, hysterical, amazing group that I stumbled onto who were actually close to my age. I also love Arashi for many of the same reasons I adore SMAP but don't seem to fit into the fandom as easily. The cohesion that SMAP have developed over the years is something I see Arashi "getting" and putting into practice. I think the only other JE that I feel the same comfort with is KinKi, who I think are hysterical and fantastic but I wouldn't expect less from a group that started out under SMAP's wings. But yeah, I like to watch the interactions between the guys in Arashi and, like SMAP, it's terribly hard for me to say I had an absolute favourite although Riida usually tops the list.

I'm completely with you as far as appreciating SMAP. Nakai-kun has me rolling on the floor most of the time and I would fly to Japan just to see him do that dorky dance of his. Tsuyoppon has so much genki and his acrobatic talent awes me. He's also rather easy on the eyes. Kimura's diva-ness is delightful but he always lets it slip enough to show he doesn't take it too seriously himself. Shingo is...wow. I love that he's willing to try such a variety of new and different things. And Goro-chan. Hmmmmmm....definitely among SMAP fans he's understood but outside there are those who really do think he's an inept dweeb. So I try to show him the love wherever possible. And among all those Kimura and Shingo icons/banners/wps that everyone else does it always makes me so happy to see when people are willing to dig up some of Goro's gorgeous pictures too. And Nakai...who is utterly amazing in my book.

Your eye for great icons is incredible! You take good pictures and make them pop and find the most amazing looks. That must take such a lot of patience. Also, bringing out things like the Loser Reporter Brothers, who are so stupid they are giggle-licious and - OMG - the Meiji commercials. Way cool.

Ahem, indeed, brevity is not my forté. All this to say: Thanks for the groovy icons!

/HAD TO REPRESS THE URGE SEVERAL TIMES TO FLAIL BECAUSE OF THIS AWESOMELY-LONG-REPLY WHICH MAKES HER FEEL LESS LIKE A FAILURE BECAUSE OF HER TENDENCY TO WRITE LONG COMMENTS TOO AND THINKS WE SHOULD BE SMAP-LONG-COMMENTS-SISTERS

Brevity, schremity. It's overrated I say. I can be concise in my next life or something, but for right now, necessarily long comments that usually consist of SMAP-love are calling my name. :)

Hahaha, don't worry about it, it was no prob' at all. It took me longer than it should have to figure it out at first too. The FAQ is nice and all but I find I just get plain ol' too lazy to skim through it (most of the time). /A BUM

See, I've always had this little more like big thing for older men so SMAP is my ideal (PFFT, I'm in love with Denzel Washington and that man is enaring sixty). Thing about SMAP is, though, even though they're nearing forty they feel like they're nearing twenty-five instead. How they keep their youth intact (and manage to be so contagious & hilarious & dorky & cute & talented & human) completely eludes me. They're just so relatable (that's one of their winning points for me, Arashi too, they just seem casual and cool and you want to get to know them--slipping into Shingo's bed somehow someway wouldn't be a bad thing either). And YES! My dream is that Arashi will 'become' SMAP when in the next couple of years or so (just like you had eloquently put it :D). I can see it happening really easily too since they already have the powerful dynamic that SMAP works with so awesomely. Kinki! Yeah, they're great too (a lot of the older groups are fun in that sense)--um and I'm sorry, you just became somuchmoreawesome for having Riida usually top your list as an Arashi-favourite (he's my Arashi-bias, his vibe, I just can't get enough of it; just like his tan, umai!, love of fish, drowsy eyes, lack of talk, hunched shoulders, bowed-legs, ridiculously thin profile, etc. /APOLOGIZES FOR THE OHNO-CENTRIC RAMBLE THERE)

Yeeeah. SMAP on a whole is just fantastic but I adore that individually they're all so different and bring something so alluring and just fun to the table. Nakai (just like Yoko from Kanjani8) really is a comedian--most people say it makes up for his not-so-good singing voice (but is it so wrong that I actually love it? It's cute and rough and when he tries it makes me want to cry). Tsuyopon is just so nice, I fall in love with him every time he smiles (IT MAKES ME THINK OF PUPPIES & TOASTER OVENS) and he really is awesome at the acro, he makes it look easy--his high cheekbones are to die for. Kimura is hot (obviously), but I do really like that he's more than that and you just know he works so hard and I really enjoy it when he gets into older brother mode. Shingo is simply the love of my life, he's crazy, funny, cute and has a fantastic singing voice to boot. Also, have you seen his smile? /URF I've come to love Goro-chan a lot (I remember at first I couldn't get a real read on him so I was unsure), but the more and more you watch SMAP, he grows on ya'. I like that he says whatever he feels, whether or not it goes against what someone else might think. His dance moves are also legendary (/WOULD THROW BOTTLES AT HIM IF SHE DIDN'T LOVE HIM SO) hahah.

I am terrified to see how long this ends up, will lj even let me post it?!

Guh. You're way too kind, I'm just always to happy to see some people like 'em and can use 'em. I have a blast doing it, though, so it's really no trouble on my end and sharing it makes it that much better (just sucks when there's so many icons I wanna' use but not enough icon-space /CURSES LJ'S LACK OF ICON SPACE AND HER BROKE-NESS STOPPING HER FROM BUYING MORE). Hahah, just honestly, thanks. Comments like that are nice to come by and make all the work that more thrilling and worthwhile. :)

What's that? Brevity? Don't know 'em. :DDD

P.S. Why are we not lj-friends yet?

/GOES ABOUT ADDING YOU

[identity profile] super-nezumi.livejournal.com 2010-09-13 10:18 am (UTC)(link)
Gaaah, wanted to yap back at you sooner but that Life thing sometimes gets very big. :-(

We interrupt this SMAP love-fest for an Arashi moment: I got into Arashi around the time of HYD so evidently it was Jun who grabbed my attention first. Then it seemed like Nino was in the shows I was dying to see (super ♥ for "The Neen" icon, it's hysterical!) so while I was listening to their music and loved 'em as a group, I wasn't watching any of the C or D no Arashi so I wasn't seeing them as a group really.

I've kind of jokingly said for years that SMAP will always be my #1 for their all-around talent but if I had to choose a fave JE based on singing talent alone it would be Arashi, no competition. Their harmonies and especially Ohno's solos more than prove that Johnny's are not simply a bunch of lovely faces. But it was Uta no Onii-San that changed me from a casual fan who rather dug them to a serious fan and turned Riida into my Arashi list-topper. He can act. He can sing. He is funny and humble and doesn't come across as vapid, he's interested and intrigued by things. His relationship with the rest of Arashi is very similar to Nakai-kun's. SOLD! From there I dug back for episodes of Mago Arashi, Alphabet no Arashi and the addiction just got more serious. Watching them together, I can see they Get It, it's not painful to see them all on the same set (as opposed to say...KAT-TUN - a group I also quite like but don't see them getting that cohesion thing down yet or perhaps I'm totally missing that) and I see that they're flowing into their own personalities which can only mean success in the future, IMO. Best of all, they are not SMAP Jr yet will have no problem stepping into their footprints as Forever Idols, in their own right. I think Arashi are very clever kouhai who paid attention to what worked for SMAP and, rather than being Plastic Kimura, Plastic Nakai, Plastic Shingo clones, they learned to let their own selves shine, saw the formula for success and molded it to themselves. SMAP are SMAP because they don't let circumstances or styles define them, they take songs or clothes or shows and put their own special vibe on them. That's why Dear Woman, roller disco cheezy as it may sound, is so dang catchy. It's why Swing works. It's why Hana, which could be syrupy disgusting in the wrong hands, is a powerful, tear-jerking song. It could easily be - Monster, which here in the States would be a Halloween Hit or scream "Theme Song" is addictive and a Forever Top Ten for my MP3 player. It's why Beautiful Days is so uplifting and beautiful as opposed to sounding like something from The Partridge Family Songbook. That makes me really happy. Finding more JE gems is a good thing.

Aggggh, failed the Brevity Test again! And I haven't even gotten to gushing about my level of Shingo Love or swooned over Goro's hair yet.
I'm sure this is full of typos and coherence issues because I woke up at 3am and thought, "it's quiet...I CAN TYPE!" so I apologise for anything that doesn't make sense :-D
