there goes my resolution of never-ever-ever writing for any exchange/challenge/whatever ever again. D: but it always goes to screw itself when something like this pops up. then it always comes back when I am writing the thing.

any excuse for more fic is a good excuse. :D and since it's summer, there's more free time that could be wasted on getting drunk and lazing around, so why not waste it on trying to write some shit too. [and I have so NOT got any ideas for any SMAP fics already while that is not what I wanted because I promised someone a Gazette fic or two. :P]

Since you didn't have a category for this, I am not interested in writing for it, but I think it is a fabulous idea. If there are other ways to be involved (from reading to judging or whatever) I might be interested, so I would definitely want to know the details if it happens.

This is an appealing idea... I am a bad mod and I haven't done any comm organising for ages.
Although, at one stage I did float this idea when I was chatting with someone and she seemed to think that the fandom is too small for a meaningful contest... I'm not sure, myself, whether we're big enough to sustain such a thing. Hmm...

Mm, IA! That's my biggest concern, participation besides the 2TOP thing. I'm sure there won't be a prob' in terms of reading/voting/what not, but to have all that happen, we'll need ppl who are willing to write too.

I think if there were an effective way of promoting it to other fandoms, it might be better too. The few ppl who mentioned it to me aren't particularly planted in the SMAP'dom itself, which surprised me, actually. It makes me think, how many ppl outside of SMAP'dom would be interested in smth like this?

But yeah. I'm just throwing this out there for now, I'm not confident in it myself. :*

Me toooo~ AND IA SO HARD WITH YOU. I wish SMAP fic came out in half the amount Uh-rash-ee ones did. I'd pretty much be set for life! But, alas, the SMAP'dom is tinier is all, and the fic that does get churned out is rather good, so it just means when ppl DO write fic, I'm all *Q* about it, ahaha.

Would probably feel too intimidated to enter (I've never actually written SMAP fic, and I haven't written fic in general in a while), but whether or not I change my mind on that, I'll definitely be reading/would be interested in helping out if you want someone to help with organization/set up/if you end up going with judges instead of reader-voting. Regardless, I will enjoy it thoroughly if it happens because SMAP fic makes me happy. ♥

I'm always happy to help. :* And I think tsuristyle had a good idea about doing something like a meme as an alternative, if not enough people want to commit to an actual contest. It could either be in the form I've seen most memes, where everyone comments on a single post with their prompt ideas, or people could all submit prompts to one place, and each week/few weeks/whatever, a new prompt could be posted for the whole group (a community for the anniversary ficfest could be made so it's organized); that way, prompts don't get missed if they come at the end of the meme. People could do older prompts if they want to, but it would space things out a bit, and then people wouldn't be afraid of submitting to be judged, per se. Just as a thought!

On one hand I worry that there might not be enough participants to really make the 'contest' side of it, but on the other hand, maybe it would encourage more people to give it a try? Although I guess fic memes are probably more encouraging than contests.

I'm terrified by all those things too. I guess I'm vainly praying that this'll lure some ppl out, although I shouldn't rely on that completely. Being able to get the idea out to ppl outside of the fandom would be good too, because of the interest that might be there but ultimately, idk.

Anyway, I would fully support the idea, but like many others have said, I am crazy terrible at churning out something for 1) a certain theme 2) for no theme at all 3) under a proper deadline, unless I get a brainwave.

Chels has come up with some really good ideas and we're bouncing back and forth about the idea of a fic fest instead, which we think would work better in this case. But...I think i can't write fics, because i'm sooo insecure about my english (isn't a good thought and I trying to change XDDD). I just can do some simple drawings. It's okay to join this challenge? A fic fest sounds awesome, god. This is so magic for the fandom and definitely would be fun.
I really love 2top, but i agree that we need change the pairings and the plot sometimes (i wanna see one Goro/Tsu, and Shingo/Nakai too! XDDD). And we can make a songlist too!I always take the bus thinking about some musics to listen when i read SMAP's fics, btw~
